Time signatures

A metre is not only how many beats there are. It is also which notes may be beamed together and which sounds have to be written as two notes tied — and on this site both of those are derived from the two numbers rather than typed in.

Bar and beat are counted in ticks of a 768-tick whole note, which divides by two five times and by three as well, so every value this site can write is a whole number.
