What this site stores
In your browser, and nowhere else
Everything you do on a tool here happens in the page. The chord you type into the finder, the notes you give the chord namer, the seed of a sheet, your trainer score and which theme you chose are all worked out or kept by your own browser. None of it is sent anywhere, because there is nowhere for it to be sent: the pages are static files.
The seed of an exercise travels in the part of the address after the #, which browsers never send to a server. Handing somebody the link to a sheet gives them the same twenty notes and gives us nothing.
What is counted
Visits are counted without cookies and without identifiers. What is recorded is the day, which page, the referring site, the kind of device, the language and the country — and, so that returning visitors can be told from new ones at all, the day your browser first saw this site, which your browser remembers for itself and reports once a day. There is no id, no cookie and no fingerprint, and nothing that could be joined back to a person.
There is no Google Analytics on this site and there will not be, because every page here promises that what you type stays in your browser and a third-party tag would make that sentence untrue.
Advertising
This site carries advertising. Where an advertisement appears it comes after the thing you came for, never above it. We do not set an advertising cookie of our own.
Getting in touch
Something wrong on a page — a chord spelled oddly, a fingering nobody could hold, a bar that does not add up? That is a bug in a calculation, not a typo in a table, and it is worth reporting: hello@chordcomb.com.
